thicker snake chains can be used in place of choke chains, they’re good for
long haired dogs bc the fur wont get tanked and pulled like a regular choke
chain will..i’ve trained champion show st. bernards using snake
chains…only takes a couple days for the to get it.

what kind of dog is karma? My husband and i have a dog who looks very
similar to this one but we were not informed what kind of dog he is and can

it is only called a “choke chain” when people use it improperly. if you
make a 9 it is a choke chain. if it is a P it is called a slip collar
because it slips over the dogs head.

i’ve never tried a Martingale collar, it looks so much safer than the prong
one that’s for sure, but yeah how sure are you that my dog won’t slip out
of this collar? b/c i’ve tightened his collar really tight before but he
still manages to escape w/ his constant struggling =(

Have you tried a Martingale collar? It is similar to a choke chain but it
tightens when the dog pulls and loosens when the dog isn’t pulling, so if
he tries to slip out of it, it will get tighter so he can’t. I would most
DEFINITELY watch my Loose Leash Walking video though and start working on
teaching your dog not to pull on the leash. That will help more than any
type of special collar. Also, harnesses will only make pulling worse
because they can throw all of their body weight into pulling.

Thanks! It bothers me too. I’ve actually pulled over and taught people how
to use them correctly if I’m out driving somewhere and I see them walking
their dogs poorly. Hazards of being a trainer! lol

Some trainers will go a step further with an E-collar (shock collar), but
I’ve never found a need for it. Some swear by them, some refuse to use
them. Everyone uses different tools depending on what they were taught with
and what they find works for them. Ultimately the decision is yours, so you
should do your research and talk to a few trainers before deciding, since
everyone’s opinion is going to be different. Its up to you to do what is
best for your dog, so use what you feel comfortable with

I try to use the least amount of force to get the job done, so I start with
a regular buckle collar. If that doesn’t work, I upgrade to a Martingale
collar (fabric choker), if that doesn’t work, I upgrade to a choke chain,
then a prong chain. For me, a prong is a last resort, so if you desensitize
your dog to prong corrections, you’re not doing something right and should
consult a trainer. I am able to use a regular collar for 99% of my clients.
It also depends on what you are trying to teach.

You’re right.It hurts me too to see people correcting and choking ther dogs
harshly like that EVERYDAY. You look very responcible, you’re not hurting
this creature and you’re pretty :3

Prong collars have removable links, if the collar is too big just take some
of them out until it fits. o ^ o

This has helped me so much. My pit bull has a choke collar and its made a
huge difference in how he walks, I learned how to use it by your video.
Riley has never had any harm from his collar, he broke a gentle lead and
this was a last resort. I’d NEVER use a prong collar, so hopefully a couple
of weeks with this he’ll be good to go. Thank you!!

I believe irresponsible owners and owners using tools improperly would be
to blame for deaths and injuries, not the tools themselves. Every tool can
be effective when used properly, but the problem is that the majority of
people who buy them don’t use them properly. And btw, the reason my dog
didn’t react is because I wasn’t giving her actual corrections, just a
quick demo. She walks well on the leash with just her regular collar so I’m
not going to correct her when she doesn’t need one.

your dog didnt even react to a pinch or choke chain, and look at the head
leader BAM instant pulling problems I recommend using the prong more than
choke chain CHOKE CHAINS KILL DOGS PRONGS DONT!!
